Nadler set to speak with Barr about Mueller report

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler expects to speak on Wednesday afternoon with Attorney General William Barr about his plans for releasing more details of special counsel Robert Mueller’s report, according to a source familiar with their plans.

The conversation comes a day after Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Lindsey Graham met with Barr. According to Graham, Barr intends to provide Congress a copy of the Mueller report with redactions for grand jury information as well as to protect intelligence sources and methods.

Though President Donald Trump has hailed Mueller’s findings as “total exoneration” after Barr’s suggestion that Mueller recommended no additional indictments, significant mystery remains about what Mueller uncovered regarding the Trump campaign’s links to Russians during the 2016 election as well as the status of his investigation.

Federal prosecutors revealed Wednesday that Mueller’s grand jury is “continuing robustly,” despite Mueller’s moves to hand off ongoing matters to U.S. attorneys. It’s also unclear whether Mueller reached any counterintelligence conclusions about the interactions between Trump associates and Russian operatives — findings that might not amount to criminal charges but still inform national security decisions by Congress and the Trump administration.

Democrats have protested loudly in recent days about Barr’s decision to exonerate Trump of obstruction of justice, a determination he made despite Mueller’s suggestion — as described by Barr — that he was unable to reach a decision on the matter.
