She will also serve as the showrunner alongside Lang Fisher. David Miner and Howard Kline are executive producers.

This project for Netflix falls under her recent eight-figure deal with Universal Studios to develop new projects under her production company Kaling International.

It’s been quite a year for Kaling already, and it’s only March. Her film Late Night debuted to critical acclaim at the Sundance Film Festival. Amazon Studios bought it for $13 million and will release it theatrically on June 7.

Kaling is also working with Hulu on an original show, her take on the film Four Weddings and a Funeral. With this untitled Netflix comedy, Kaling is shaping up to be one of the most intriguing comedic voices of our time.
