Dallas Cowboys pass-rusher Randy Gregory has been suspended indefinitely for violating the NFL‘s substance abuse policy, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport

Gregory appeared in 16 games—including postseason—in 2018 after being conditionally reinstated by the league back in July.

Gregory has been subject to discipline on a number of occasions since entering the league in 2015, and he has yet to play in all 16 regular-season games in a single season four years into his career. An ankle injury cost him four games as a rookie in 2015—and then his off-the-field issues arose.

He received a pair of suspensions in 2016 that wound up sidelining him for a total of 14 games. And then he got hit with a full-year ban for the entire 2017 campaign as the result of a substance-abuse violation.

TMZ Sports reported in April 2017 Gregory had failed his seventh drug test and had blown off NFL officials. After struggling to stay out of trouble for a couple of years, the lineman appeared to have gotten control of things last year as he focused on returning to football.

David Moore of SportsDay reported last spring that Gregory had been adhering to his program and the feeling around him is said to be positive.” Ultimately, he was reinstated a few months later.

“I’ve never been more proud of any individual in my life,” Daniel Moskowitz, Gregory’s attorney, said in July. “I’m very excited for Randy and his daughter and the rest of his family.”

Unfortunately for the 26-year-old defensive end, though, it appears he has had another setback.

Gregory’s off-the-field issues caused him to fall to the second round back in 2015. As he has been unable to overcome those issues, he has appeared in just 28 of a possible 64 regular-season games in his career.

Gregory recorded six sacks in 14 games last season.
