UFC 230 Daniel Cormier vs. Derrick Lewis: Live Round-by-Round Updates, Results and Highlights

Derek Brunson vs. Israel Adesanya: Round 1

Brunson shoots early and gets double underhooks. He move Adesanya to the fence. Referee Herb Dean separates them after Brunson grabs the shorts. Another shot from Brunson, but Adesanya defends. Brunson grabs a hold of Adesanya as he comes forward and puts him back on the cage.

Brunson staying aggressive with Adesanya stuck on the fence. Adesanya gets free again. Brunson is getting a bit wild, we’ll see if Adesanya capitalizes as Robert Whittaker did against him. Adesanya tests Brunson’s awareness with a head kick, but Brunson avoided the hit. Brunson clinches again.

Adesanya catches Brunson on the break. He is all over him with pinpoint shots now. Knees, punches, kicks. He has dropped Brunson a number of times. Finally Herb Dean steps in. That’s a big time performance.

Jason Knight vs. Jordan Rinaldi: Round 3

Knight defends a takedown early in the third. Knight slips to the back off a missed strike. They roll to the mat. Rinaldi uses a kimura to sweep. He loses the arm, but gets the back of Knight. About 3:20 left in the fight.

Rinaldi landing some small shorts in an attempt to open Knight up. Rear-naked choke attempt, but Knight wiggles out of danger. Knight stands with Rinaldi on his back and rolls forward. Rinaldi sticking to him like glue. Less than a minute left. Nothing else happens.

Jason Knight vs. Jordan Rinaldi: Round 2

It takes a minute of patience, but Rinaldi gets the takedown. He goes to side control. Rinaldi gets the back off a quick scramble. Rinaldi has a body triangle from the bottom. Complete control of the situation while he looks for the choke.

Under the new scoring criteria he may be able to get a 10-8 round just from the control. It’s been dominant. However, no damage and no serious submission attempt. Now he goes for a rear-naked. Knight just waves his finger no indicating it was not close.

Jason Knight vs. Jordan Rinaldi: Round 1

Knight fires away immediately. Rinaldi clinches, but Knight gets out of it quickly. Rinaldi clips Knight with a clean left. Rinaldi changes levels and takes Knight down. Excellent start from Rinaldi.

Knight gets to his guard. Knight gets to the fence and gets up. Rinaldi with another takedown. Rinaldi is staying active but not able to do much offensively. Rinaldi controlled the round once it hit the mat.

Sijara Eubanks vs. Roxanne Modafferi: Round 3

A counter right scores for Roxy. Another right lands. Now a left. Eubanks is throwing, but not landing cleanly. Modafferi still needs a big round or a finish. Eubanks isn’t in danger of that just yet.

A sweeping right from Modafferi. They clinch and Eubanks lands a knee inside. Modafferi is having more success. She just does not have the power or strength to make them count. Eubanks gets a takedown and that could be the fight. Modafferi will struggle to get up from under Eubanks. Modafferi just misses a sweep. Modafferi gives up her back in order to stand, but there is just 30 seconds remaining.

Sijara Eubanks vs. Roxanne Modafferi: Round 2

Modafferi starts more aggressively on the outset of the second. Nice right over the top from Modafferi. Eubanks isn’t landing too much. Modafferi eats a head kick that rocks her. Eubanks hammers her and Modafferi falls.

Modafferi goes after a leg. Eubanks escapes and they stand. Modafferi lands a right. Eubanks scores with a right from the clinch. Modafferi hip tosses Eubanks to the canvas with just under two minutes to go. Modafferi working for position. Eubanks defending well.

Sijara Eubanks vs. Roxanne Modafferi: Round 1

Modafferi starts on the outside as expected. She lands a nice right. She is at a power and strength disadvantage so she doesn’t want to get inside and exchange. Eubanks takes her to the mat.

Modafferi is avoiding a lot of the damage, but she is on the bottom. Eubanks has had a couple minutes of top control. Eubanks controlled her way through the first round.

Julio Arce vs. Sheymon Moraes: Round 3

The wound is re-opened. He is covered in his own blood. Step-in elbow from Moraes. Moraes being patient, maybe too much so. Arce throwing, but not landing. Moraes letting him come forward. They clinch. Nice elbow before the break from Moraes.

Head kick glances off of Arce. Arce still keeping a decent pace. Moraes doesn’t appear to be tired, but he isn’t throwing much. He may be giving this round away off of pure aggression by Arce. Arce lands a good left. One minute left. Moraes lands a knee to the gut. Right scores for Arce. Another clinch.

Julio Arce vs. Sheymon Moraes: Round 2

Moraes lands a right hand, but Arce clinches and takes him down. Moraes gets up quickly. Nice knee inside from Moraes in the clinch. Arce is sliced from an elbow. It’s gushing. Yikes. The referee isn’t stopping it for the doctor to get a look. We fight on.

They break and go to the center. Moraes lands a body kick. They are active but without landing much of anything significant.

Moraes clocks Arce again and drops him. Arce looks glassy eyed, but he is surviving on the mat. Moraes lets him stand. He’ll get to the end of the round.

Julio Arce vs. Sheymon Moraes: Round 1

Arce comes forward with a quick combination, but Moraes covers up well. Moraes drops him off a counter straight right that is perfectly timed. Arce defends the follow-up, but Moraes is keeping up the intensity. Arce uses a reverse triangle attempt to get space to stand.

Arce looking for a takedown, but Moraes stays up. Arce slips to the back and takes it. Moraes wearing the human backpack now. One minute left in the round. He may be stealing this round in the eyes of the judges, but getting dropped and eating some ground and pound is tough to overcome without significant offense. The rear-naked choke attempts fail.

Ben Saunders vs. Lyman Good: Round 1

Good lands a strong inside leg kick immediately. Saunders responds with a kick to the body. Nice straight left from Saunders. They clinch near the cage. Saunders landing knees, but Good is landing with uppercuts. And one uppercut puts Saunders down. Hammerfists and it’s over. He was done off the uppercut, but the hammerfists put him out cold.

Matt Frevola vs. Lando Vannata: Round 3

Both men start the round as they have the other two. They don’t look too tired and are throwing at a good clip.

Good right hand that followed a missed kick from Frevola. Vannata got a brief takedown, but he paid for it with the right hand from Frevola. The pace slows a bit as Vannata stalks. Frevola has been more active. Vannata with a 1-2 of his own now. Frevola takes Vannata down briefly, but Vannata scrambles up. Less than a minute to go.

An even round into the final minute. Frevola with a combination. That may have taken the fight. Incredibly close. How will they score it?

Matt Frevola vs. Lando Vannata: Round 2

Spinning back kick to the body barely lands for Vannata. Outside leg kick by Frevola lands solidly. Push kick to the face from Vannata. Vannata catches Frevola cleanly on the counter and Frevola crumples! Vannata going for the finish, but Frevola is surviving.

Vannata landing repeatedly with a variety of strikes. To the body he goes. Frevola recovering. Incredible. Vannata still in full control of the round, and Frevola is still not 100%.

Vannata slows down the pace. Now Vannata starting to up the output again. He just misses on a wheel kick. Frevola just surviving. Now Frevola is responding with leg kicks. Good left from Frevola. Now he’s getting back into the round. Good combination from Frevola.

Frevola shoots in, but Vannata defends. Frevola goes for a takedown, but Vannata tries for a guillotine. That exchange ends the round. Could be a 10-8, but I think Frevola did enough to keep it from being a dominant round.

Matt Frevola vs. Lando Vannata: Round 1

Frevola lands a right early. Vannata is the aggressor as Frevola is on the outside. Both men throwing a variety of strikes. Frevola taking chances. Another nice right from Frevola. Vannata drops Frevola with a head kick during an exchange!

Frevola pops right back up and they go at it. Strong body kick from Frevola. Vannata taking his time and waiting. He eats a straight right. Frevola making strides to take this round back. A counter right clips Vannata and makes him stumble.

High-level striking and high output. A fight for the fans. Vannata comes forward and eats two hard counter punches from Frevola. Frevola nabs a guillotine off a scramble! Vannata slips out. Frevola ends the round in mount. Wild ending to the round!

Shane Burgos vs. Kurt Holobaugh: Round 1

The two meet in the center of the cage and start the feeling out process. Various strikes throw to gauge distance, timing and opponent’s reaction. Both men look on point. Holobaugh with a good combination. Burgos lands a nice jab, but it’s Holobaugh with the combos.

Holobaugh drops Burgos with a quick combination. Holobaugh follows him to the mat. Burgos locks up an armbar! It’s over, he taps! Wow!

Adam Wieczorek vs. Marcos Rogerio de Lima: Round 3

Wieczorek needs a finish, but he hasn’t threatened with anything. They clinch again. Wieczorek tries to use his legs to trip Rogerio de Lima, but he is the one who winds up on the bottom. Over 3:30 to go in the final round.

Rogerio de Lima starts in control and then mounts. Wieczorek scrambles, and Rogerio de Lima decides to stand. They hit the mat again as Wieczorek gets off-balance. Rogerio de Lima works from the guard again. Back to the feet they go. Rogerio de Lima can coast to a victory here, and it doesn’t seem like either fighter will put forth a lot of output.

Body lock takedown from Rogerio de Lima. Under a minute. That should do it.

Adam Wieczorek vs. Marcos Rogerio de Lima: Round 2

Rogerio de Lima starts with a leg kick. Wieczorek fires, but Rogerio de Lima responds and lands the cleaner blow. They clinch against the cage. Rogerio de Lima backs out. Inside leg kick from Rogerio de Lima. There still isn’t much output, but Rogerio de Lima has a clear advantage on the feet.

Wieczorek struggling to get the fight to the mat. Still half the round remains. Slow going.

They go back to a striking distance. Good leg kick from Rogerio de Lima. He clinches again. The referee separates them. Another strong leg kick from Rogerio de Lima. Wieczorek goes for another takedown without much of anything behind it.

Adam Wieczorek vs. Marcos Rogerio de Lima: Round 1

Rogerio de Lima out pressuring as they exchange leg kicks. Wieczorek takes Rogerio de Lima down without issue. He works from half-guard.

Rogerio de Lima works to his feet and takes Wieczorek to the mat. He did well to avoid damage and get his offense going. Rogerio de Lima works from half-guard. Not much happening from an offensive perspective. Rogerio de Lima just maintaining top control. Rogerio de Lima finally postures up toward the end of the round to land some decent punches from the guard.
