Travis Scott Called Kylie His ‘Beautiful Wife,’ So Naturally We Have Questions

Getty Images

Kylie Jenner managed to keep her pregnancy with Stormi top-secret, but is it possible she’s keeping a marriage under wraps as well? That’s what some fans are suspecting, after her boyfriend, Travis Scott, recently referred to her as his “beautiful wife.”

The sweet but somewhat shocking shout-out happened during Scott’s Astroworld Festival performance in Houston over the weekend. As captured in the fan-shot video below, the “Sicko Mode” rapper said onstage, “My beautiful wife, she came out. My beautiful daughter, she’s here too. I love y’all so much.”

Scott further stoked speculation when he commented, “I love u wifey” on Jenner’s Instagram post congratulating him for his big weekend. Alongside cute pics of Scott and their daughter, Stormi, she wrote, “Only the people around you really know how hard you work. I love to watch you make all your dreams come true. Your first festival. We’re so proud of you. We love you.”

The couple have certainly kept aspects of their relationship super private — after news first broke that Jenner was pregnant with Scott’s daughter, she essentially vanished from public appearances. And when Stormi finally arrived, they kept her out of the spotlight, only sharing photos and other details after a few months had gone by. A secret marriage wouldn’t be impossible to pull off, but it’s also totally feasible that they’re just using cutesy pet names for one another. Or, they’re just messing with all of us. After all, this isn’t the first time they’ve triggered engagement/marriage rumors.

Meanwhile, Scott continued basking in the love this weekend when he was honored with “Astroworld Day” by the city of Houston on Sunday (November 18). During his speech at City Hall, he praised his hometown’s resiliency, as Houston recovers from the impact of several devastating hurricanes.

“One thing about Texas, we stand strong,” Scott said. He also expressed his desire to give back to the city, addressing the kids in the audience by telling them, “I know it don’t seem like it because you can’t drive without a driver’s license, but you are the future.”

Between his chart-topping third album, the birth of Baby Stormi, his own festival, and an honorary day in his hometown, Scott is clearly riding a high this year. A wedding would only be the cherry on top.

Bill Gates shares his appreciation for HBO’s ‘Silicon Valley’

Apropos of nothing, Microsoft founder Bill Gates has decided to share his thoughts on the HBO comedy Silicon Valley.

On Monday, Gates published a new post on his blog — known as GatesNotes (seriously) — about the tech industry satire, which is currently in between seasons. Gates sees Silicon Valley as a rare example of pop culture getting life in the tech world “right.”

“If you really want to understand how Silicon Valley works today, you should watch the HBO series Silicon Valley,” Gates wrote.

<img alt="Bill Gates: apparently not opposed to dick jokes!" class="" data-caption="Bill Gates: apparently not opposed to dick jokes!" data-credit-name="giphy” data-credit-provider=”custom type” data-fragment=”m!60c9″ data-image=”https://ift.tt/2OPfAvH; data-micro=”1″ src=”https://i.amz.mshcdn.com/N80aJ0UxgqLkDLcxFRouyd5tsOg=/fit-in/1200×9600/https%3A%2F%2Fblueprint-api-production.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fuploads%2Fcard%2Fimage%2F885565%2F58eba565-4db5-44a8-bb59-449f0cc3ad7c.gif” title=”Bill Gates: apparently not opposed to dick jokes!”>

The dad-jeans loving billionaire also apparently identifies with one character: the scrappy, anxious, but sometimes endearing protagonist, Richard Hendricks (Thomas Middleditch).

“Personally, I identify most with Richard, the founder of Pied Piper, who is a great programmer but has to learn some hard lessons about managing people,” Gates wrote.

That’s right: despite the fact that Gates is one of the world’s most successful people, he apparently still sees himself as an awkward, earnest do-gooder.

He even tweeted a photo that appears to be an edited picture of himself as a young upstart … except with Richard’s face, and the Pied Piper logo instead of the old logo for Microsoft.

Gates, have you been playing around in MS Paint?

<img alt="Just a wee babe." class="" data-caption="Just a wee babe." data-credit-name="Deborah Feingold/Getty Images” data-credit-provider=”custom type” data-fragment=”m!97c3″ data-image=”https://ift.tt/2zdqKFG; data-micro=”1″ src=”https://i.amz.mshcdn.com/N7TCXSEB22H0FSDcV9VYqn_pKpU=/fit-in/1200×9600/https%3A%2F%2Fblueprint-api-production.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fuploads%2Fcard%2Fimage%2F885596%2Faca9b2d5-0644-4f8f-b9f9-ec5a70f86294.jpg” title=”Just a wee babe.”>

Gates also thinks the personality archetypes are spot on. The infighting and competition, the snarky but socially clueless programmers, the entrepreneurial largess and sometimes arbitrary nature of success and failure, all reflect the Valley that he knows deeply, he said.

And he thinks his peers who are opposed to the show need to lighten up: “they don’t make any more fun of us than we deserve.”

Gates does have one note. He thinks that Silicon Valley mayyy be a bit harsh on big companies (you know, like Microsoft):

I do have one minor complaint. Silicon Valley gives you the impression that small companies like Pied Piper are mostly capable while big companies like Hooli are mostly inept. Although I’m obviously biased, my experience is that small companies can be just as inept, and the big ones have the resources to invest in deep research and take a long-term point of view that smaller ones can’t afford. But I also understand why the show focuses so much on Pied Piper and makes Hooli look so goofy. It’s more fun to root for the underdog.

It’s pretty fun to imagine Bill Gates watching the antics of the Pied Piper crew and LOLing, maybe even thinking back on his time in the garage with Paul Allen.

Gates said he is currently making his way through Season 5, which ended in May. He’s holding out hope that it returns for a sixth season, though production on new episodes is reportedly delayed and may not air until 2020.

We’re just going to have to keep our eyes peeled for more GatesNotes fandom until then.

Is peace in Yemen within reach?

Houthi rebels in Yemen have announced a pause in their drone and missile attacks against a coalition force of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and their allies.

They say they are ready for a broader ceasefire if the Saudi-UAE coalition is prepared for peace.

For its part, the Saudi-UAE coalition briefly paused its air strikes on the vital port city of Hodeidah, but then resumed them on Sunday in an apparent bid to gain more military advantage before peace talks, which are due to be held in Sweden by the end of the year.

The United Nations is confident that all parties to the conflict will take part in those talks, probably because now the United States has stepped up its engagement and demanded, in the words of defence Secretary James Mattis, that the “conflict be replaced by compromise”.

All this comes at a time of international outrage over the murder of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi in the kingdom’s consulate in Istanbul last month.

In the US Congress, voices critical of the administration’s close ties to Saudi Arabia have grown louder, increasing pressure on President Donald Trump to rethink his relationship with the kingdom’s Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman.

So, after three years of war, could this be a pivotal moment for Yemen? And why is the US stepping up its pressure now?

Presenter: Martine Dennis

Guests:

Nabeel Khoury – former US deputy chief of mission in Yemen

Helen Lackner – associate researcher at London Middle East School, SOAS, University of London

Elisabeth Kendall – senior research fellow at Pembroke College, University of Oxford

NASA’s 2020 rover will land in Jezero Crater, a dried ancient lakebed

NASA’s next car-sized rover will plummet through the thin Martian atmosphere and softly land on the floor of a dried-up lakebed, the space agency announced Monday.

When the robot arrives on Mars about 8 months after its launch in 2020, NASA will endeavor to land the six-wheeled rover in the Jezero Crater, a 30 mile-wide bowl about 1,640 feet deep. It’s believed to have once held an 800-foot deep lake some 3.5 billion years ago.

The space agency hopes to accomplish a number of things during the at least two-year mission. But the first science directive is to “determine whether life ever arose on Mars.” Indeed, today Mars is extremely unlikely to harbor any life — on the surface, at least. It’s a heavily irradiated, dry, frigid desert, with no liquid water.

“But it wasn’t always that way,” Ken Farley, the Mars 2020 project scientist at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, said in a press call.

NASA scientists suspect Mars was once a blue world, like Earth. And as bodies of water on Earth are teeming with life, NASA wants to scour the Jezero lakebed for signs that past microbial life could have survived there, or perhaps clear signs of long-dead life itself.

“All things point to the idea that we should be looking to ancient Mars for a surface-habitable environment, said Farley. “Lakes on Earth are both habitable and inevitably inhabited.”

The Jezero landing site also allows NASA scientists to rove over a dried-up river delta where water once flowed out of the lake.

This environment likely held nutrient-rich clay minerals that could have been an ideal place for Martian microbes to flourish, as they do in moist clays on Earth.

The 2020 rover comes equipped with of slew of scientific instruments, making it a bonafide mobile laboratory.

It carries a ground-penetrating radar, an experimental machine that produces oxygen from atmospheric carbon dioxide, and tools to store five tubes filled with Martian rocks and soil — to be carried back to Earth by another future mission one day.

“Getting samples from this lake-delta system will revolutionize how we think about Mars and its ability to harbor life,” Thomas Zurbuchen, associate administrator for NASA’s Science Mission Directorate, said during the call.

One of the most significant tools for sleuthing out past evidence of Martian life — if not the most critical — is the SuperCam, a high-tech camera perched atop the 2020 rover.

Once the rover lands, NASA scientists know there will be countless places of interest to visit, so the SuperCam will fire lasers to detect the make-up of rocks and chemicals from 25 feet away. Then, the rover will slowly rumble over to most promising places — places that could have once sustained hardy, microscopic life.

Such ancient evidence will be difficult to find — should it exist at all.

“It [Mars] may not yield its secrets easily,” Roger Wiens, a planetary scientist who heads the team that built the SuperCam, said this summer.

While exploring the Martian surface with the new rover — should it successfully land — NASA also hopes to collect information that will support human visitation to Mars — a longer-term goal for the 2030s.

While NASA wants to return astronauts to the moon in the coming decade, the next logical step is Mars.

“Mars is really the obvious place after the moon,” said Zurbuchen.

And the 2020 rover is expected to pave the way there.

Imran Khan hits back at Trump’s ‘tirade’ against Pakistan

Pakistan’s Prime Minister Imran Khan has said Donald Trump needs to inform himself about historical facts after the US president alleged that Islamabad did not adequately support the Washington-led “war on terror”.

In a series of statements on Twitter on Monday, Khan listed ways in which Pakistan assisted the US and was impacted by the war, saying the “record needs to be put straight on Mr Trump’s tirade against Pakistan”.

The comments came a day after Trump defended his decision to cut hundreds of millions of dollars in military aid to Pakistan, accusing Islamabad of taking money while allowing former al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden to hide in the South Asian country.

Khan reacted sharply, recalling the Pakistani lives lost during the “war on terror”, before appearing to suggest the US should look closer to home for responsibility for the continued strength of the Taliban in Afghanistan.

Record needs to be put straight on Mr Trump’s tirade against Pakistan: 1. No Pakistani was involved in 9/11 but Pak decided to participate in US War on Terror. 2. Pakistan suffered 75,000 casualties in this war & over $123 bn was lost to economy. US “aid” was a miniscule $20 bn.

— Imran Khan (@ImranKhanPTI) November 19, 2018

“1. No Pakistani was involved in 9/11 but Pak[istan] decided to participate in US War on Terror. 2. Pakistan suffered 75,000 casualties in this war and over $123bn was lost to the economy. US “aid” was a minuscule $20bn,” Khan posted on Twitter.

Khan said the US has made Pakistan a “scapegoat” for its failures in Afghanistan, where the Taliban are stronger than at any point since the 2001 US-led invasion.

“Instead of making Pakistan a scapegoat for their failures, the US should do a serious assessment of why, despite 140,000 NATO troops plus 250,000 Afghan troops and reportedly $1 trillion spent on war in Afghanistan, the Taliban today are stronger than ever before.”

Khan also highlighted how the war devastated Pakistan’s tribal areas and uprooted millions of Pakistanis from their homes. He said the country continues to provide free lines of ground and air communications to the US.

“Can Mr Trump name another ally that gave such sacrifices?” he said.

Trump’s false assertions add insult to the injury Pak has suffered in US WoT in terms of lives lost & destabilised & economic costs. He needs to be informed abt historical facts. Pak has suffered enough fighting US’s war. Now we will do what is best for our people & our interests

— Imran Khan (@ImranKhanPTI) November 19, 2018

Uncomfortable allies

In an interview with Fox News that aired on Sunday, Trump said Pakistan “don’t do a damn thing” for the US, and once again blamed Pakistan for allegedly sheltering bin Laden.

“He was living in Pakistan, we’re supporting Pakistan, we’re giving them $1.3bn a year, which we don’t give them any more. By the way, I ended it because they don’t do anything for us, they don’t do a damn thing for us,” he said.

Shortly after Khan’s comments on Monday, Trump took to Twitter again to slam Pakistan.

“We paid Pakistan billions of dollars and they never told us he was living there. Fools! We no longer pay Pakistan the billions because they would take our money and do nothing for us, Bin Laden being a prime example, Afghanistan being another.

“They were just one of many countries that take from the United States without giving anything in return. That’s ENDING!” Trump posted.

Bin Laden was found to be hiding in the Pakistani city of Abbottabad, where he was killed in a raid by US Navy Seals in 2011.

….We no longer pay Pakistan the $Billions because they would take our money and do nothing for us, Bin Laden being a prime example, Afghanistan being another. They were just one of many countries that take from the United States without giving anything in return. That’s ENDING!

— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) November 19, 2018

Relations between the two allies have nosedived since Trump took office last year, mainly because of a clash of interests in war-torn Afghanistan.

Washington accuses Islamabad of providing safe havens to the powerful Haqqani network, which is blamed for numerous attacks on foreign forces in Afghanistan in recent years.

Pakistan denies the allegations.

NBA Rumors: Joakim Noah, Grizzlies in ‘Extensive’ Contract Talks

The Memphis Grizzlies are reportedly considering signing free-agent center Joakim Noah. According to Marc Stein of the New York Times, there have been “extensive discussions” between the two sides recently.

Noah hasn’t played yet in 2018-19 after being waived by the New York Knicks in October. He had two seasons remaining on his four-year, $72 million contract, but the team used the stretch provision to reduce the cap hit.

Noah was once one of the more versatile players in the NBA, earning two All-Star selections while being named the 2013-14 Defensive Player of the Year. Unfortunately, he has gone on a downward trend since then and has only appeared in 82 total games since the start of the 2015-16 season.

The 33-year-old has only played seven games in the past two seasons, averaging 1.7 points per game in that time.

This won’t do much to help improve an offense that ranks 28th in the NBA with 103.3 points per game.

Still, he could provide depth and experience for a Grizzlies team that has gotten off to a strong start at 10-5. Adding Noah provides the coaching staff with another proven player at center behind starter Marc Gasol while also allowing rookie Jaren Jackson Jr. to move to power forward if needed.

With 60 playoff starts also on his resume, Noah could be a valuable asset in the locker room.

Trump to give Mueller written answers by Thanksgiving

Legal

Trump’s lawyers set an informal Thanksgiving deadline for the president to finalize his responses to inquiries about the Russian hacking of the 2016 election.

President Donald Trump will give special counsel Robert Mueller written responses to a slate of questions as early as Tuesday.

Trump’s lawyers set an informal Thanksgiving deadline for the president to finalize his responses on topics surrounding the Russian hacking of the 2016 election, and he’s almost ready to submit them, according to two sources familiar with the conversations.

Story Continued Below

The president’s written answers — which carry the same legal burden for truthfulness as an in-person interview — are likely to be submitted as Trump settles into his Mar-a-Lago club in South Florida for the Thanksgiving holiday. Trump is scheduled to depart Washington, D.C., on Tuesday afternoon.

Trump over the past week has spent several hours with his legal team, including Rudy Giuliani, Jay Sekulow and Jane Raskin, finalizing his answers to questions from the special counsel focusing on his time before he was sworn in as president.

Still unclear is whether Mueller and Trump will reach agreement on any format for responding to the special counsel’s wider obstruction of justice investigation involving the president’s time in office, including his May 2017 firing of FBI Director James Comey.

In an interview earlier this month, Giuliani said Trump’s lawyers were engaged in “very sensitive negotiations” with Mueller that could lead to a voluntary interview or another round of written questions on topics associated with events after January 2017.

Mueller also has the option of issuing a subpoena and forcing a historic legal fight with the president, something the president’s lawyers argue they’d challenge in court.

“I wouldn’t argue that you can never subpoena a president. I would argue that you can’t in this particular case because, to subpoena a president, you have a burden you don’t have with anybody else,” Giuliani said. “You’ve got to show a real need for it. A real need for it in terms of developing your case and not a real need in order to try to trap him. Trapping is not a legal legitimate objective.”

Trump told Fox News’ Chris Wallace in an interview broadcast Sunday that he is unlikely to sit down for a face-to-face interview with Mueller.

“We gave very, very complete answers to a lot of questions that I shouldn’t have even been asked and I think that should solve the problem, I hope it solves the problem. If it doesn’t, you know, I’ll be told and we’ll make a decision at that time. But probably this is the end,” the president said.

“I think we’ve wasted enough time on this witch hunt and the answer is probably, we’re finished,” Trump added.

Once submitted, Trump’s written answers will mark the end of at least one critical phase of the Mueller probe that dates back to the start of the investigation.

The president told reporters in the spring of 2017 that he was “100 percent” willing to testify under oath about alleged Russian ties to his campaign. His lawyers at the time were even gearing up to offer Trump for an interview by Thanksgiving 2017 had Mueller not yet requested a sit-down.

Trump has since backtracked on his in-person interview pledge and his lawyers have instead tried repeatedly to get Mueller to accept written answers. The special counsel rejected that approach at least once, Giuliani told POLITICO in May. More recently, Mueller did send over questions related to the Russian hacking though Giuliani insisted the president was under no obligation to answer all of them.

“As you might imagine, some questions are, from our view, more relevant than others,” Giuliani said.
