Iran power struggle continues as Zarif keeps top diplomatic post

The recent political crisis in Iran, triggered by Foreign Minister Javad Zarif’s attempt to resign, reflects a long time rivalry between hardliners and moderate factions that is poisoning Iran’s politics, according to Iran experts.

Despite President Hassan Rouhani‘s rejection of Zarif’s resignation, observers believe that the foreign minister’s unexpected move was the result of an intensifying internal power struggle in Iran that is far from over.

“Zarif’s resignation has exposed the political faultline between competing political factions in the country,” said Luciano Zaccara, professor in Gulf Politics at the Qatar University Gulf Studies Center.

The confrontation is between moderate forces within the government, including Zarif, and hardliners who dominate Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), a military force directly under the control of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Zarif has been the top Iranian official working to improve relations between the Islamic Republic and Western countries.

But hardliners took a fierce stance against the government’s effort to salvage the 2015 nuclear deal signed with the West to curb Iran’s nuclear activities in exchange for sanctions reliefs.

After US President Donald Trump withdrew from the deal in May and imposed a second round of sanctions, Iran plummeted into a severe economic crisis.

The currency went into freefall, losing around 70 percent of its value against the dollar.

That and Europe’s failure to take tangible steps to deflect the economic pressure, fueled the hardliners’ criticism against Zarif for the concessions he gave to the US and EU-bloc without securing benefits for Tehran.

WATCH: Iran’s Foreign Minister Javad Zarif resigns (2:10)

The political cracks within Iran’s political factions span Iran’s involvement in the war in Syria, its alleged role in assassinations on EU soil, to the fight for a more transparent financial system.

Confrontation over Syria

When Khamenei met Syria’s President Bashar Al Assad on Monday alongside Qasem Soleimani, the head of the IRGC, the foreign minister’s absence was noteworthy.

Iranian media reported that Zarif’s exclusion from the Assad meetings pushed the minister to announce his resignation.

“Zarif’s absence showed how insignificant the role of the foreign minister is in defining Iran’s foreign policy in Syria, which is dominated by the revolutionary guards,” said Zaccara.

“With his resignation, even if not accepted, Zarif wanted to make the point that the foreign minister needs to be in charge of the country’s foreign policy.”

A further point of friction between moderates and hardliners over Syria, concerns if and how Iran should respond to the Israeli attack on Iran’s military installations on January 21, according to Brookings visiting fellow and Iran expert Ali Fatholla-Najed.

“There are increasing considerations among some Iranian security circles that Iran should respond,” Fathollah said.

“If this is the plan, it would strike a blow to what Zarif is trying to achieve given that any confrontation with Israel would jeopardize EU support for Iranian relations.”

Iranian actions in EU

Iran’s internal power struggle streches beyond regional boundaries reaching European soil.

France accused Iran of plotting a foiled bomb attack on June 30 against an exiled opposition group’s rally while Rouhani was in Europe to salvage the nuclear accord.

A few months later, the Netherlands condemned Iran for the assassinations of two Dutch nationals of Iranian origin.

The accusations came just after EU announced its intention to set up a financial mechanism to facilitate trade with Iran despite US sanctions.

“Why is that precisely at the time Iran was fostering relations to salvage the nuclear deal, there were attempted assassinations from the Iranian side on European soil?” questions Fathollah-Nejad.

While the IRGC has not been directly accused, Fatahollah-Nejad suggested that the Revolutionary Guard carried out the attacks in order to sabotage Zarif’s engagement with EU to save the nuclear deal.

A battle within domestic policy

As part of Rouhani’s attempt to reduce Revolutionary Guard influence over the country’s economy, the Iranian parliament passed a bill on Sunday requiring tax-exempt para-governmental organizations, including the IRGC, to pay taxes.

While the bill has not received the Guardian Council’s approval, the Rouhani administration is trying to send a message that it wants more transparency from the IRGC, according to Zaccara.

“Rouhani wants to reduce the Revolutionary Guard’s internal influence by making them more accountable. In this way he will also limit the IRGC’ capacity to stick on the wheel of Iran’s international commitments,” Zaccara told Al Jazeera.

The IRGC is believed to control a notable share of the Iranian economy either directly or indirectly through everything from dam construction to transportation.

Accountability and transparency are also at the core of Rouhani’s battle to adopt the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) bill which has been delayed multiple times.

The FATF is a set of regulations to combat money laundering and financing of militant organizations. The bill adoption would make the country’s financial system more transparent and pave the way for Iran to establish international banking ties.

“If such bill is implemented it would pose a threat to the political interests of the IRGC as it would make the whole financial system more transparent” said Fathollah-Nejad. “But if it’s not implemented it would jeopardize European and Iran relations.”

The foreign minister has implicitly accused hardliners of being engaged in money laundering activities he said were prevalent in Iran.

The future scenario

“I believe accepting your resignation would be against the benefit of the country, so I reject it,” Rouhani said in a letter to Zarif published in Iranian media on Wednesday.

Soleimani also expressed his full support to Zarif calling the minister the main person in charge of Iranian foreign policy and said he was supported by the Supreme Leader.

“The broad support for Zarif, including by Soleimani, suggests that this episode has empowered the Rouhani administration in general, and the foreign minister in particular,” said Mohammad Ali Shabani, Iran Pulse Editor at Al-Monitor.

“While factional infighting won’t end, it is likely that both Rouhani and Zarif will now be able to press their issues with more fortitude and strength.”

12 Essential Mariah Carey Cuts That Prove She’s Queen Of The Remix

Kevin Winter/Getty Images For dcp

By Princess Gabbara

In addition to being the queen of Christmas, vocals, and an extensive vocabulary, Mariah Carey is notably also the queen of remixes, dahling. It’s no secret that the diva goes to great lengths to deliver a spectacular remix, often re-recording vocals, penning new lyrics, shooting new music videos, and recording different versions to satisfy pop, R&B, hip-hop, and EDM audiences.

The veteran artist even put out an entire album dedicated to some of her most memorable reworks, 2003’s The Remixes. Selling over 40,000 copies in its first week, the double-disc album spent 10 consecutive weeks atop the Top Dance/Electronic Albums chart. For Mariah, the art of the remix has always been an opportunity for her to flex her own creative muscles and reinvent herself as she glides through the decades.

Take the So So Def remix of “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” for instance. Layering the holiday standard over an urban beat with elements from Afrika Bambaataa & The Soulsonic Force’s “Planet Rock” speaks to Mariah’s willingness to take musical risks, like on the under-appreciated Glitter soundtrack (#JusticeForGlitter). And 2009’s “H.A.T.E.U.” was the gift that kept on giving, using a nostalgic sample of the Ghost Town DJ’s song “My Boo” to further solidify Mariah’s talent for bringing her most heart-wrenching ballads to life through remixes.

Following the release of her most recent studio album, Caution, in November, Carey revealed to Andy Cohen that a collaboration with Lil’ Kim and Cardi B — potentially even a remix of “A No No” — could be in the works. Carey’s longtime collaborator Jermaine Dupri, who produced the song, even hinted that Lil’ Kim and Missy Elliott could appear on the track.

Unfortunately, this star-studded union still remains theoretical, but with Mariah’s Caution World Tour kicking off tonight (February 27), there’s no better time to highlight the 12 songs that prove MC is the queen of the remix.

  1. “Someday” (New 12” Jackswing) — 1990

In 1991, “Someday” became Mariah’s first of 17 songs to reach No. 1 on the Dance Club Songs chart; veteran DJ Shep Pettibone reworked the dance-pop tune, adding new jack swing influences. Then, she was a newcomer, but soon, she’d take more creative control on her sophomore LP, Emotions.

  2. “Loverboy” (Remix) feat. Da Brat, Ludacris, Shawnna and Twenty II — 2001

Built around the funkalicious groove of Cameo’s “Candy” from 1986, “Loverboy” ushered in a new era for MC as the first creative project following her departure from Columbia Records in 2001 — and its drag race-themed music video marked yet another image overhaul for the songbird supreme.

  3. “Emotions” (12” Club Mix) — 1991

Mariah blessed our ears with a new gospel-style intro for 1991’s club mix to “Emotions.” This one features production credits from C+C Music Factory’s Robert Clivillés and the late David Cole, and was Mariah’s first collaboration with a notable dance producer to create a club remix.

  4. “My All/Stay Awhile” (So So Def Remix) feat. Lord Tariq and Peter Gunz — 1998

This Latin-inflected ballad was one of Mariah’s first remixes to be built around the old R&B classics that she grew up loving as an aspiring performer. For the re-imagination of “My All,” Mariah blended the song’s first half with Loose Ends’ “Stay A While, Child” in another example of how some of Mariah’s finest tunes were constantly being reworked to reach wider audiences.

  5. “Heartbreaker” (Remix) feat. Da Brat and Missy Elliott — 1999

Butterfly redefined Mariah’s career as she shifted toward a hip-hop sound, but 1999’s “Heartbreaker” remix marked the point of no return — heavily sampling and interpolating Snoop Dogg’s “Ain’t No Fun (If the Homies Can’t Have None).”

  6. “Honey” (Classic Mix) — 1997

Mariah is known for using her club remixes as a vocal showcase for her stunning five-octave range — and “Honey” was no exception. In the late ’90s, the native New Yorker traded in her pop sound for her R&B and hip-hop roots, but dance remixes remained a constant throughout her career evolution. Producer-slash-DJ David Morales deserves major props for flipping this R&B standard into a straight club banger.

  7. “Always Be My Baby” (Mr. Dupri Mix) feat. Da Brat and Xscape — 1996

Featuring background vocals from R&B quartet Xscape, this mesmerizing remix is as timeless as the original Daydream classic. Mariah first tested the waters on the album’s lead single “Fantasy,” but “Always Be My Baby” was Mariah’s second remix to feature a rap verse, making her transition into the hip-hop market that much more flawless. It’s also one of the first instances where Mariah collabed with Jermaine Dupri, who would go on to produce the 2005 hits, “Shake It Off” and “We Belong Together” — named “Song of the Decade” by Billboard in 2009.

  8. “Dreamlover” (Def Club Mix) — 1993

A favorite among club-goers, this sultry remix of “Dreamlover” is best remembered for being Mariah’s first-ever collab with David Morales, as well as her first remix to feature re-recorded vocals.

  9. “Thank God I Found You” (Make It Last Remix) feat. Joe and Nas — 2000

The alternate version of Mariah’s 15th chart-topper, “Thank God I Found You” is essentially a remake of Keith Sweat’s 1988 hit, “Make It Last Forever.” Earlier remakes (e.g. Journey’s “Open Arms”) mostly appealed to pop listeners, but as the new millennium was approaching, Carey segued into covering lesser-known R&B classics. This DJ Clue-helmed track is one of the rare instances in Mimi’s catalogue when the remix completely outshines the original production.

  10. “I Still Believe/Pure Imagination” (Damizza Remix) feat. Krayzie Bone and Da Brat — 1999

Mariah’s gift for making over some of her biggest hits, as she did with Around the World‘s “I Still Believe,” is a bit uncanny. A brilliant interpolation of Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory’s “Pure Imagination” shows that Mariah has always been ahead of the curve when it comes to reintroducing old classics to younger generations. A few remixes were cut for “I Still Believe,” but this version — being so substantially different from the original — easily could’ve been released as its own single.

  11. “Anytime You Need a Friend” (C+C Club Version) — 1994

This C+C club version ranks among Mariah’s strongest and most ebullient vocal performances to date. From the seemingly improvised scatting to those defiant vocal runs, this nightclub-ready version shows off Mariah’s ingenuity as an artist early on in her career. Moreover, the 11-minute track earned Mariah her first production credit for her remixes.

  12. “Fantasy” (Bad Boy Remix) feat. Ol’ Dirty Bastard — 1995

In 1995, Mariah enlisted the Wu-Tang Clan rapper to revamp the Tom Tom Club-sampling “Fantasy” — and in that moment she became a true trailblazer. MC and ODB’s unexpected pairing ignited the now-ubiquitous pop-rap collaboration, from NSYNC teaming up with Nelly for 2001’s “Girlfriend” (The Neptunes Remix) to Maroon 5 joining forces with Cardi B on 2018’s “Girls Like You.” Simply put, this bonafide classic changed pop music forever.

‘8D audio’ is a refreshing sonic experience that can transport you to another dimension

This post is part of Hard Refresh, a soothing weekly column where we try to cleanse your brain of whatever terrible thing you just witnessed on Twitter.

You’ve heard of 3D, and even 4D, but prepare yourself for 8D. Well, sort of.

If YouTube is your main source for music streaming then you may have seen something called “8D audio” in your suggestion bar.

8D audio is essentially an effect applied to a stereo track where songs have been edited with spacial reverb and mixing to make it seem like the audio moving in a circle around your head. This experience can only be achieved by wearing headphones, which the gimmick relies upon to create the illusion of a 360 degree space.

It sounds like this:

SEE ALSO: Transport yourself to a magical world with ambient soundscapes

Hundreds of songs have been edited to have this special effect. Some viewers claims it makes it feel like they’re listening live.

The editing involved in this technique is best explained by YouTuber Dylan Tallchief, who runs a channel about all things audio.

From his analysis, Dylan suspects that tracks have two main things done to them to achieve this effect: First, reverb is applied to the track, which adds an echo and spatial reflections. Essentially, it sounds as if the existing audio track is being pumped through a room.

To recreate the effect Dylan uses an audio program to attain the rotating effect. Using a 3D stereo panner, the audio is manipulated to make it sound like it’s rotating around your head, though of course, you only have two ears, and the audio is still just stereo. The effect is that your brain is tricked into thinking there’s more space than there actually is.

As fun as the term “8D” is, the audio isn’t actually 8 dimensional. In an article on Mel Magazine by Eddie Kim, he explains, “Of course, there’s no actual new recording with 8D mixes of pre-existing songs. Instead, 8D music creators are using software that can manipulate a song’s various stereo parts, placing and moving them within a virtual 360-degree space.”

So essentially, 8D is just another clickbait term that doesn’t really mean anything.

Although many pop, hip-hop, and rock songs have been remixed in this format, more ambient songs like this one tend to lend themselves best to the mixing style, creating an eerie and encapsulating environment.

While some people find this form of music distracting, I find it mesmerizing, and I’m clearly not the only one. Two notable YouTube channels, 8D TUNES and Trillion – 8D Music, boast 5.4 million and 1.6 million subscribers respectively. They also aren’t the only two channels to hop on the 8D audio train, several more channels have been popping up recently with videos reaching views in the hundred thousands. Both of the channels mentioned above have ads turned on.

Some 8D audio tracks have been criticized for being distracting because the sound moves too quickly in the spatial field. However, as the style evolves, the creators have been getting better at moving the music in a more desirable and calming fashion. What I really like about the slower style is that it feels like I’m in the room with the artist, and it also creates a virtual bubble in my headspace, allowing me to concentrate better.

Thanks to the growing number of 8D channels on YouTube, it’s easy to find popular songs when you search for the song title along with “8D.”

So sit back, relax, and let 8D audio make you feel like you’ve entered the another dimension.

Kushner meets Saudi’s MBS for first time since Khashoggi murder

Senior White House adviser Jared Kushner met with Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS) on Tuesday for the first time since the murder of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

The talks in the Saudi capital Riyadh, part of Kushner’s tour of the Middle East, focused on ways of “increasing cooperation” between the United States and Saudi Arabia as well as efforts to resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, a White House statement said.

“Building on previous conversations, they discussed increasing cooperation between the United States and Saudi Arabia, and the Trump administration’s efforts to facilitate peace between the Israelis and Palestinians,” the statement said.

“Additionally, they discussed ways to improve the condition of the entire region through economic investment,” it said.

This was the first face-to-face meeting between Kushner, who is also US President Donald Trump’s son-in-law, and MBS since the murder of Khashoggi at the Saudi consulate in Istanbul on October 2.

A firm critic of Saudi’s reform programme under the stewardship of MBS, Khashoggi was looking to obtain paperwork certifying he was single so that he could marry his Turkish fiancee, Hatice Cengiz.

Riyadh initially insisted that Khashoggi had left the consulate alive before changing its account and admitting that the journalist was killed in an operation it said was undertaken by “rogue elements”.

MBS behind Khashoggi murder

The US Congress blasted the White House for its reluctance to hold Saudi Arabia accountable for the murder of Khashoggi, a US resident and Washington Post columnist.

In December the US Senate passed a resolution that directly pinned the blame for the murder on MBS and a second resolution that to end US military assistance for the devastating Saudi-led war in Yemen.

Neither Khashoggi nor the war in Yemen were mentioned in the White House statement on Kushner’s meeting in Saudi Arabia.

Also present at the meeting were Jason Greenblatt, special representative for international negotiations, and US Special Representative for Iran Brian Hook.

Kushner met on Wednesday with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan for talks focused on his Middle East peace plan. Also present at the meeting with Kushner was Berat Albayrak, Turkey’s finance minister and Erdogan’s son-in-law.

It lasted two hours, according to state news agency Anadolu. No further details were available.

Erdogan is a strident critic of Israel and the Trump administration’s policies in the region. He has frequently said Israel’s actions against Palestinians are similar to methods used by the Nazis.

New peace plan

Kushner arrived in Ankara after stops in Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates to discuss his Israeli-Palestinian peace initiative.

In a recent interview with Sky News Arabia, Kushner said details of his proposed initiative would be revealed after Israel’s elections April 9.

Trump’s ‘ultimate deal’ for Middle East peace overseen by Kushner (02:26)

Palestinians hope East Jerusalem, which was captured by Israel in the 1967 Six-Day War, will be the capital of their future state. Israel claims all of Jerusalem as its capital.

Trump has said he wants to conclude an Israeli-Palestinian peace agreement by the end of his first term and Kushner was tasked with preparing it.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has said the Trump administration disqualified itself as a peace negotiator after upending decades of US policy by recognizing Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and moving the US embassy there.

Forget Android Auto, Polestar’s new EV has Google built into the car

On Wednesday, Volvo’s performance brand debuted its first all-electric car, the Polestar 2. But the new  Tesla Model 3 competitor is causing a stir in the auto industry not only for its performance, but for being the first car to feature Google’s native version of Android built for cars.

The first Polestar vehicle (aptly named Polestar 1) was a plug-in hybrid two-door coupe that came out in 2017. The brand’s second car is a bit more practical with four doors and longer battery range, mimicking the price, design, and capability of the Model 3  — Tesla’s more affordable sedan that starts at $42,000.

The Polestar 2 was revealed this morning, but with a $63,000 price tag, way above its more budget-friendly expectations. The company says after the first year it will eventually go for closer to $45,000.

It’s part of Volvo’s commitment to go electric this year and beyond, whether that means hybrids, plug-ins, or all-electric vehicles coming from the Chinese-owned Swedish car company.

A backside look at the upcoming Polestar 2 EV.

The new Volvo car has 275 miles per charge with its dual electric motors and 78 kWh battery and can go 0 to 60 mph in under 5 seconds, but it’s the in-car infotainment system from Google that’s more eye-catching than the EV specs.

The 11-inch dashboard sits in the center console. This isn’t just any Android Auto system that syncs your Android phone with the car when it’s docked. This is an entirely new Google-powered interface built natively into the car — the first for Google. (We should note: Both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are available for drivers to connect their phones to the car.)

A smartphone demo from last month showed what the car’s infotainment system will look like in the vehicle, with some usual Google features making an appearance like maps, calendar, phone, and media player available on the home screen. An apps tab opens up the Google Play store. Google Assistant will operate the car’s voice control system.

Climate control is also available throughout the interface no matter what tab or mode you’re in — something a bit different from the usual smartphone and tablet experience with Google. Remember, this is Google tailor-made for a car, not a digital device. The grid layout comes with default choices, but is customizable.

An Easter egg appeared in the app demo showing an overhead view of the car which quickly turned into a video game — maybe a clue of hidden games and features in the Google interface. Again, similar to Tesla and its Easter egg drawer full of games, tricks, and gags, like “fart mode.”

The car tab on the app pulls up “drive” and “functions,” showing advanced driving features like lane-keeping, curve assist, auto-braking, blindspot alerts, and warnings about speed limit, police cameras, and road signs. Some of those features sound familiar from Google Maps.

Again, it’s similar to Tesla with an in-car tablet that features its own interface. But this is Google, and expect the Android-based features to make its way into other car infotainment systems.

The car will officially launch at the Geneva Motor Show next month and is supposed to be available in the U.S. by summer 2020. Production in China will start in 2020. A Polestar 3 (the creativity just keeps going) is supposed to join the line-up eventually as another all-electric vehicle like the Polestar 2. Expect more Google features if the partnership works out with this car.

Creators are aghast at the terms of Facebook’s Patreon competitor

Always tryna pocket that cash.

Imitation is the sincerest form of petty theft.

Facebook invited some page owners to try out its Fan Subscription service Monday night, a new feature that directly competes with Patreon. But the terms of the agreement and Facebook’s history with page owners have caused many to scoff at and shirk the offer.

SEE ALSO: Patreon’s idealism might actually be paying off

Namely, page owners report that the terms of the service enable Facebook to take up to a 30 percent cut of subscriptions. That’s in comparison to Patreon’s 10 percent, 5 percent of which go to fees and processing, and the other 5 percent that Patreon keeps.

The other clause putting off pages from joining is the assertion that Facebook (and its affiliates!) will get lifetime rights to use creator content however it wishes, even after a page stops using the service.

Facebook reached out to offer Hard Drive early access to a “fan subscription” product. I asked my editors about it and the complete distrust amongst our team was kinda funny. We read through the terms and found a couple things that were hilarious when compared to Patreon’s 5%.

OH JESUS GOD I just saw the part where Facebook’s “Patreon Killer” (BIG BIG SCOFF) is automatically granted LIFETIME RIGHTS to whatever you upload to their service?!?!

— Iron Spike (@Iron_Spike) February 27, 2019

Facebook is offering the subscription service for no fee at first. But its terms say that it retains the rights to change that at any time.

Page owners that received the invitation are also aghast because of their previous relationship with Facebook. Changes that Facebook made to its algorithm in recent years have severely limited the reach and ability to earn ad revenue from content posted on Facebook.

Up to 30% and the rights to all our stuff? From the people who let us build an audience on their platform before pulling it out from under our feet? Hilarious. Here’s a crazy alternative: let people who signed up to see our content see it and then we can monetize that hahah.

Facebook’s move on Fan Subscriptions is typical and telling in a couple ways. It shows how Facebook continues to add more tentacles to its business, further horizontally integrating to be a digital everything service — primarily by copying the successful business models and services of other companies. Facebook has recently launched ventures in dating (à la Match), direct selling (à la Craigslist), home services and reviews (à la Yelp), and much, much more

Facebook’s tendency to mimic also extends into its bread and butter business of social media. It directly stole the whole concept of stories and ephemerality from Snapchat, and Facebook recently launched its own version of short-form video platform TikTok, called Lasso.

Patreon, on the other hand, wants nothing to do with Facebook’s business. It is supportive of its creators using any platform however they wish, and many creators do use Facebook to communicate with and manage their communities. But when I spoke with Patreon co-founder Jack Conte and SVP of Product Wyatt Jenkins at their creator conference, Patrecon, in December, both expressed that they were trying to build a business and a payment model that was as fundamentally different from the way current internet giants manage content, users, and data.

“We don’t want to be where people digest content,” Jenkins said at the time. “We’re not obsessed about engagement, or what part of the video people are watching. That’s just not our game.”

Facebook, by contrast, wants to serve fans who subscribe “exclusive content” — the rights to which it will retain long after creators leave the platform.

“I’m tired of this system of converting attention into dollars, and using advertising to fund and finance the web,” Conte said. “You can be paid what you’re worth, instead of what tech platforms want to pay you.”

Ironically, Conte’s rebellion against the web as it is has apparently been an attractive prospect to Facebook. Facebook initially launched a very limited fan subscription service in 2018. But it only went wide this week — about a month after Patreon announced that it had grown its platform to 3 million users, who will surpass $1 billion in contributions paid to creators in 2019.

Will the appeal of Facebook’s massive reach be enough to sway page owners to Fan Subscriptions? Given the backlash to the terms of the initiative, that’s not looking likely. Besides, Patreon seems to know what its users want: transparency, a clear value proposition, and for the company to get out of creators’ damn way.

“We’ll just stay that central hub for creators to own that relationship with their fans, and have no algorithms between them and their fans, because that’s what they’re pissed about,” Jenkins said in December. “They’re tired of someone unilaterally deciding how many views they get, and changing algorithms, and doing all that work. They’re tired of it. That’s why they come to Patreon.”
