Trump to Jewish Republicans: Democrats pushing ‘extreme, anti-Semitic agenda’

Donald Trump

President Donald Trump speaks during the Republican Jewish Coalition’s annual leadership meeting at The Venetian Las Vegas on April 6 in Las Vegas, Nevada. | Ethan Miller/Getty Images

LAS VEGAS — Speaking before a crowd of influential GOP donors and Jewish Republicans, President Donald Trump on Saturday accused Democrats of mistreating Israel and allowing the “scourge of anti-Semitism to take root” in their party.

“Democrats are advancing by far the most extreme, anti-Semitic agenda in history,” Trump said. “If implemented… the Democrats radical agenda could very well leave Israel out there all by yourselves.”

Story Continued Below

In remarks at an annual conference hosted by the Republican Jewish Coalition, which endorsed Trump in 2016 and has spoken glowingly of his administration during his first two years in office, the president riled up the crowd by tearing down his political opponents one-by-one.

Taking direct aim at freshman Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar, a Somalian-born Muslim congresswoman who’s been rebuked by Republicans and members of her own party for comments perceived as anti-Semitic, Trump jokingly thanked her at the outset of his remarks.

“Special thanks to Representative Omar of Minnesota. Oh, I almost forgot. She doesn’t like Israel… I’m so sorry!” Trump quipped, as an audience in the gilded Venetian Hotel booed the congresswoman’s name.

The hour-plus speech hit on all the campaign themes that Trump has been touting as he enters the 2020 fray.

He reassured the crowd that Republicans will soon become “the party of healthcare,” a claim that has baffled some top GOP lawmakers in recent days who have hoped to avoid wading back into the divisive issue after failing to repeal and replace Obamacare in 2017. He also spoke about the flow of immigrants across the U.S.-Mexico border, including asylum seekers from Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador, claiming that his administration has been unfairly criticized for moving to cut off aid to the Central American countries.

“I’ve taken a lot of heat from the stupid people,” Trump said. “What about building our own country for a change?”

And in what has become a big applause line for Trump since Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) introduced her climate change initiative known as the Green New Deal, Trump complained about the menu of “socialist” policies that he claims Democrats are pushing Americans to embrace.

People would have to take “trains to Europe, Hawaii and Australia,” Trump claimed as he criticized Ocasio-Cortez’s resolution — proposed by “a wonderful young bartender, 29 years old,” he added derisively.

Earlier in the day, the president on Twitter denounced special counsel Robert Mueller’s probe into Russian collusion as well as Democratic-led investigations into his administration. However, he notably avoided the topic while speaking to the Jewish Republicans.

Trump’s remarks to the Jewish crowd come less than a week after he hosted embattled Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House for ongoing discussions about a Middle East peace agreement and Iran. Netanyahu is currently facing allegations of corruption and accusations that he used his position as Israel’s top elected official for personal gain. At one point on Saturday, Trump asked the crowd how they thought the Israeli leader would fare in his upcoming bid for re-election.

“I think it’s going to be close. Two good people,” Trump said, as the crowd yelled “Bibi” to voice their support for the incumbent, Netanyahu.

The president also recognized conservative mega-donor Sheldon Adelson and his wife, Miriam, to whom Trump recently awarded a presidential Medal of Freedom. The 85-year-old Adelson, who has been undergoing cancer treatment, hadn’t been expected to be in attendance Saturday. But those close to the Casino mogul, who with his wife gave over $120 million to GOP causes in the 2018 midterms, said he decided that he wanted to make it to the gathering.

Adelson, who arrived in a red “Make America Great Again” baseball cap, received a standing ovation from the crowd, many of whom wore kippahs or other apparel embellished with Trump’s name or iconic campaign slogan.

Trump’s trip to the West Coast, where he continues to suffer from sky-high disapproval ratings, began Friday, when he traveled to Calexico, Calif., to tour a segment of the border that was recently upgraded for security purposes. He participated in a fundraising event late Friday before reportedly dining at a golf club he owns in Rancho Palos Verdes.

A group of pro-Palestine activists attempted to disrupt the president’s speech early on Saturday, but were escorted out as the large audience drowned them out with chants of “four more years” and “USA!”

Trump carried on unfazed, ticking through a series of campaign promises related to Israel that he has fulfilled since taking office, and reminding the crowd that one of those promises — his withdrawal from the 2015 nuclear accord with Iran — is being threatened by Democratic presidential contenders.

“Unlike other presidents, I keep my promises,” he said, citing his decision to relocate the U.S. embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem as an example of a “historic action that had been decades in the waiting.”

Trump used his remarks to generate enthusiasm for his own re-election bid, but also for congressional Republicans who face tough races in 2020 and were dealt a major blow last November when Democrats won back the House of Representatives.

“We need more Republicans,” he said, thanking audience members for their “outstanding commitment to our country” and to helping “lead our party to another historic victory” next fall.

Duke Looking into Michael Avenatti’s Claims That Nike Paid Zion Williamson’s Mom

Attorney Michael Avenatti arrives at federal court Monday, April 1, 2019, in Santa Ana, Calif. Avenatti appeared in federal court on charges he fraudulently obtained $4 million in bank loans and pocketed $1.6 million that belonged to a client. (AP Photo/Jae C. Hong)

Duke will look into allegations that basketball star Zion Williamson and his family received benefits to commit to the school.

Athletic director Kevin White provided a statement Saturday to Ben Leonard of the Duke Chronicle:

“We are aware of the allegation and, as we would with any compliance matter, are looking into it. Duke is fully committed to compliance with all NCAA rules and regulations. Every student athlete at Duke is reviewed to ensure their eligibility. With regard to men’s basketball: all recruits and their families are thoroughly vetted by Duke in collaboration with the NCAA through the Eligibility Center’s amateurism certification process.”

This comes after lawyer Michael Avenatti accused Nike of giving Williamson’s mother, Sharonda Sampson, money under the false pretense of payment for consultancy services:

Michael Avenatti @MichaelAvenatti

.@DukeMBB – About this denial by Coach K the other day relating to payments by Nike…Can you please ask Zion Williamson’s mother – Sharonda Sampson – whether she was paid by @nike for bogus “consulting services” in 2016/17 as part of a Nike bribe to get Zion to go to Duke? Thx.

Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski was asked about an initial tweet from Avenatti in March and responded, “There’s nothing there,” per Pete Thamel of Yahoo Sports.

Avenatti also alleged Saturday that he has proof that Nike gave illegal benefits to Deandre Ayton, Bol Bol and Brandon McCoy:

Michael Avenatti @MichaelAvenatti

2/2 – Nike should be criminally indicted on well over 200 counts and should also explain why they misled their investors/the SEC. If I’m lying or the docs are not legit, I challenge @nike to issue a stmt claiming no bribes were ever paid. Just Do It Nike!
https://t.co/4gi8MQRcQB

The lawyer was arrested in March on fraud charges unconnected to his relationship with Nike, but he was also charged with attempting to extort over $20 million from Nike. Convictions on all charges could lead to up to 97 years in prison.

Williamson recently completed his freshman year at Duke, finishing with averages of 22.6 points, 8.9 rebounds and 2.1 steals per game. He was named ACC Player of the Year and the Associated Press National Player of the Year.

While he has three years of eligibility remaining, he is expected to declare for the NBA draft, where he will likely be the No. 1 overall pick.

Netflix confirms it no longer supports AirPlay capability

The days of beaming your favorite Netflix show to your Apple TV are officially over.

Netflix suddenly and unceremoniously stopped supporting AirPlay capability, quietly informing users accustomed to the wireless streaming feature of the change via service support page.

“AirPlay is no longer supported for use with Netflix due to technical limitations,” the announcement read, offering up few additional details.

Image: netflix

Some users have interpreted Netflix’s unexpected parting of the ways with AirPlay as a not-so-subtle dig between competitors. Apple just recently announced a major play for streaming service dominance with Apple TV+ and prior to that “technical limitations” announcement, Netflix had been consistently compatible with AirPlay, first beginning in 2013.

SEE ALSO: Hollywood elite line up to support Apple TV+ in sleek originals promo

In a statement via The Verge, Netflix expanded upon the decision, saying it was “not a business competition play,” but rather a casualty of image quality control:

“We want to make sure our members have a great Netflix experience on any device they use. With AirPlay support rolling out to third-party devices, there isn’t a way for us to distinguish between devices (what is an Apple TV vs. what isn’t) or certify these experiences. Therefore, we have decided to discontinue Netflix AirPlay support to ensure our standard of quality for viewing is being met.

At present, it does not appear as if Netflix has any plans to rectify the issue at hand. However, the severing of AirPlay and Netflix doesn’t mean Apple TV owners will be unable watch their favorite Netflix shows. Users can still go through the official Netflix app, which can be downloaded for free on any Apple TV.

It’s the end of a hyper-convenient era for AirPlay-using Netflix fans, but whether it has any bigger implications for the tech giants’ future relationship remains to be seen.

Will Africa’s historic Free Trade Agreement succeed?

The World Bank ranks many countries in Africa among the hardest places to do business.

However, an ambitious project to ease trade between them is a step closer to reality.

The African Union agreed last year to create a free trade zone on the continent, the largest since the World Trade Organization was formed.

On Tuesday, The Gambia became the 22nd country to ratify the accord, reaching the threshold for it to be implemented.

It’s hoped the deal will reduce tariffs and trade rules, and create jobs for a market of 1.2 billion people.

But Africa’s largest economy, Nigeria, isn’t on board with the agreement.

So will the deal succeed?

Palestinians lament ‘clear discrimination’ as Israel’s minority

Jisr al-Zarqa, Israel – Cookie-cutter homes dotted with swimming pools, well-tended gardens and spacious playgrounds for children.

The city of Caesarea, where Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu owns a house, has long been associated with luxury villas and the super-rich – but for the Palestinians citizens of Israel living just across the other side of the city’s land barrier, the reality is markedly different.

Jisr al-Zarqa, the last remaining Palestinian town on Israel’s coast, is among the poorest and most densely populated in the country. Here, buildings are packed on every available plot of land, with barely any trees left.

Home to 15,000 Palestinians, Jisr al-Zarqa has for years faced a serious housing crisis, its land swallowed to make room for government infrastructure projects such as a highway that connects Tel Aviv to Haifa.

In the past two decades, Israeli authorities also declared some of Jisr al-Zarqa’s land as protected nature reserves, making the remaining land unusable.

Days before Israelis take to the polls on April 9, residents here appear indifferent, angry at longstanding government neglect. Left abandoned to fend for themselves and faced with sky-high unemployment, they say the state discriminates against their town as its population is Palestinian.

“[The housing crisis exists] not because there is no space. It’s because the Jewish kibbutzim (communal settlements in Hebrew) took the lands around and they refused to give back the lands to the village, to allow this village to expand,” said Jafar Farah, director of the Haifa-based Mossawa Centre – The Advocacy Centre for Arab Citizens in Israel.

“After 70 years [since the creation of the state of Israel] you should see development,” Farah added. “Why is the situation like this? It’s because of the vision as Israel as a Jewish state. It has isolated Palestinian communities, even in a beautiful place like this, it created poverty and anger in the community.”

‘It’s clear discrimination’

Locked in on all sides with Caesarea to the south, Ma’agan Michael kibbutz to the north and the Jewish town Beit Hanania to the east, Jisr al-Zarqa’s growing population is squeezed within 1,500 dunams [150 hectares] of land.

Meanwhile in Beit Hanania, 900 people live on 3,000 dunams (300 hectares) of land, according to Murad Amash, the head of Jisr al-Zarqa’s local council.

Inside his office, an aerial map shows the Ma’agan Michael kibbutz’s huge aquaculture fish ponds, covering an area of 2,400 dunams (240 hectares). A world-class fishing breeding centre, the kibbutz also boasts field crops, orchards and greenhouses producing a variety of fruits, some of which are exported to Europe. Ma’agan Michael is also home to Plasson, a plastics factory and the kibbutz’s main source of income.

But Amash said that when Jisr al-Zarqa’s local council asked the state to set up industrial fish ponds as a source of income for the town, its request was rejected.

“We believe it’s our right to have some kind of support from the state of Israel. We are citizens of the state. There has been a lot of talks and negotiations on it, but the state didn’t accept this request,” Amash said.

Every year, an additional 200 housing units are needed in Jisr al-Zarqa, but it is difficult to find the space. As a result, multiple families end up sharing homes, which in turn strains social relations and in many cases leads to couples divorcing, according to Amash.

Murad Amash, head of Jisr al-Zarqa’s local council [Mersiha Gadzo/Al Jazeera]

Lacking basic services due to the limited access to state funding, residents resort to burning their own rubbish as the town does not have the resources to provide regular collection.

According to Amash, the town has offered the government various plans and options to expand their land for the past 14 years, such as using the remaining land next to the barrier that separates Caesarea – but their requests were to no avail.

He added that an industrial zone would also help alleviate the high unemployment, reportedly at 30 percent. In contrast, Israel’s nationwide unemployment rate stands at just four percent.

“It’s not just that we’re neglected and abandoned. The state is doing it on purpose,” Amash said.

“It’s clear discrimination.”

Election campaigning

In the lead-up to Tuesday’s elections, some members of the Israeli parliament (MKs) and party leaders have visited Jisr al-Zarqa for campaign purposes.

Amash said he was still undecided as to which party he’d vote for due to their failure to address the town’s severe problems.

He noted that while Arab MKs are willing to listen and have in the past attempted to raise the issue with government ministers, there has been no progress as no Arab party has ever been part of government in the Israeli parliament, the Knesset.

In November 2017, Netanyahu visited Jisr al-Zarqa to attend the opening ceremony of a new police station to address rising incidents of violence, including gang warfare.

Amash said he told the prime minister that while the police station may help curb street violence, it could not solve the dilapidated town’s economic and social problems.

“If you help Jisr al-Zarqa, you’ll have real respect in all Arab communities, not just Jisr al-Zarqa,” Amash recounted telling him.

In his speech at the time, Netanyahu admitted that the government had long ignored Jisr al-Zarqa and promised to visit more to work together with local authorities in order to improve living conditions, Amash said.

That was the last time they saw him, he added.

Taking back ownership

Farah, of Mossawa, said that while Palestinian citizens of Israel can have an effect on Tuesday in changing a Netanyahu coalition, there will likely be a low voter turnout.

Jafar Farah, director of the Haifa based Mossawa Centre [Mersiha Gadzo/Al Jazeera]

“[Palestinian citizens of Israel] do not feel that voting will change the 70 years experience of being marginalised, second-class citizens of the state, who are subjected to institutionalised racism and discrimination, including through the Jewish nation-state law and other laws and policies,” Farah said.

In July, Israel’s parliament adopted a law which defined the country as the nation-state for itself due Jewish people exclusively, further marginalising Israel’s 1.8 million Palestinian citizens of Israel.

Amid the grim reality, Palestinians living in Israel have been relying on efforts to form a strong civil society in order to improve the conditions of their community.

One of the grassroots organisations is Mossawa, whose advocacy work has successfully forced the government to fund the first early childhood centre in Jisr al-Zarqa (at least six are needed); a programme training 50 nurses; and a project to build 400 housing units.

“Finally after 70 years of discrimination, the city council is able to get approval for building a new neighbourhood,” Farah said, adding that the government two years set up public transportation in the town.

Mossawa has also helped train women to boost their income by producing handmade products for sale, while its volunteers regularly team up with locals to clean up the town and decorate murals, among other activities.

Farah said it’s important to empower the people by taking back “ownership of their streets”.

“The general feeling is that you don’t feel like you belong anymore. People don’t feel that their villages and cities belong to them. People are afraid,” Farah said.

Paul Rudd is 50 years old and the internet doesn’t believe him

Happy “birthday,” Paul.

Image: Getty Images

By Alexis Nedd

Some people age well, and then there’s Paul Rudd. The Avengers: Endgame actor turned 50 years old on April 6, a fact that is barely believable to some and evidence of witchcraft to others.

SEE ALSO: ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp’ review roundup: Low-stakes fun

People on Twitter reacted to the news that Rudd is 50 whole-ass years old with skepticism and histrionics, which makes sense considering the dude has spent every year of his adult life looking the exact age he was when the Cold Ones came to him in the night, whispering promises of youth and success in exchange for something small, something he wouldn’t even miss, and after the bargain was struck he found they were correct.

His skin stayed firm, as they promised. His eyes remained bright and full of life. But sometimes he wonders what the true cost of his beauty will be, and if he’ll live to miss what he lost after all.

Anyway, Twitter had some more thoughts.

Wait paul rudd is actually 50 afgffvgvh i thought y’all were joking omg

‘Fortnite’ wins because Epic Games follows as easily as it leads

Sometimes, the very best you can do is exactly what someone else did.

The journey that Epic Games has been on with Fortnite since the game’s “battle royale” mode launched in Sept. 2017 has been highlighted by smart moves. From the Battle Pass to seasonal shifts and wild, limited-time events that subvert the competitive purpose of the game, Fortnite has been blazing a trail.

Now, for its next trick, Epic is preparing an update that skips new and fresh in favor of been there, done that: the Reboot Van. It’s a feature borrowed from Apex Legends, the competing battle royale that launched earlier in 2019.

SEE ALSO: You can listen to Weezer’s new album in ‘Fortnite’ before it comes out

As Epic’s reveal video confirms, the respawn feature works the same way in both games: if your teammate goes down, you can bring them back into the game by collecting a card from their body and using it to activate a nearby Respawn Beacon (in Apex) or Reboot Van (in Fortnite).

It’s not as flashy as an in-game Marshmello concert, but it speaks to the attitude that has defined Fortnite since its battle royale mode burst on to the scene. Namely, that good ideas can inspire, even when someone else thought of them first.

Just look at the Battle Pass. Fortnite‘s seasonal moneymaking mechanism is an evolution of the subscription fees that exemplified earlier online-only games. You buy the pass, and then the more you play in the space of a season, the more stuff you unlock for that season.

It’s not something Epic came up with, though. The idea grew up in other games and genres, and it was adapted for Fortnite in a way that made perfect sense. Timing was a factor, with the Battle Pass coming along right as loot box exhaustion started to set in. But the not-quite-a-subscription approach worked perfectly with the way people were playing.

No one’s going to argue that Fortnite is a copycat game (except for that one time). But the coming of the Reboot Van is further proof of why it’s become such a dominant force. It isn’t just the good ideas and the sticky play, the armies of influencers and the mainstream media coverage.

It’s the willingness to listen. In an industry where competitors traditionally fall over themselves to avoid giving credit to some other team, Epic has developed a knack for recognizing the ideas that can make Fortnite better — regardless of where they come from — and running with them.

Native Son Gets An Afropunk Update In Rashid Johnson’s Modern ‘Reinterpretation’

HBO

By Jourdain Searles

Richard Wright’s Native Son, first published in 1940, is a landmark work in the canon of African-American literature. It’s surprising then that the story has only been adapted to the screen twice: first in 1951 with author Wright playing the lead, and again in 1986 with actor Victor Love taking on the role of Bigger Thomas, a young Black man living in Chicago’s South Side in the 1930s. But neither adaptation caught on with audiences, so it was inevitable that another adaptation would eventually make its way onto our screens. This time, the story is in the care of artist and director Rashid Johnson.

When I sat down with Johnson to discuss his process for the film at a New York press day ahead of its HBO premiere on April 6, he revealed that the book had been in his life for a long time. “This is a story I was exposed to when I was quite a bit younger,” he said. “When I was 15, it was introduced to me by my mother. She gave the book to me with a caveat that she thought Bigger was a really challenging character.” Johnson grew into adulthood fascinated with the novel and was eager at the chance to bring it to the screen. As a Black man and a Chicago native himself, it’s no wonder Johnson would choose such a personal text as the basis for his first feature film. The visual artist went on to express a “fascination with the antihero,” finding himself drawn to Bigger as a somewhat monstrous yet sympathetic representation of Black male frustration and rage.

The novel tells the story of Bigger as a young man born into poverty and trying to make a better life for himself. He gets a job working for a white family and, for a moment, his future seems bright. Unfortunately, the pressures of being a Black man in America get to Bigger, and his breakdown leads to tragedy. Bigger is a complicated character — his violent acts stemming from the feeling of always being perceived as a villain before doing anything wrong.

Chris Lane/Courtesy of HBO

Ashton Sanders as Bigger Thomas

Johnson found the previous adaptations of the book to be lacking, referring to them as “illustrations of the novel.” He stressed that his vision was more “reinterpretation” than adaptation. In his version, the intention was to give the story a life of its own, changing key details of Bigger’s character, like why he makes his choices, and most interesting, changing the way his story ends. Of the change made to the ending — which I won’t spoil here — Johnson wanted to “best represent the age we’re living in.”

Johnson’s vision of Native Son has been in development since 2015, with the first draft of the screenplay being completed by acclaimed playwright Suzan-Lori Parks in mid-2017. 2015 was a time of incremental transformation for the Black male protagonist onscreen. That year saw the releases of Creed and Dope, both films center on characters who are reckoning with contemporary Black masculinity and identity. Since then, cinema has seen fascinating films tackling race relations and the place of Black men in society: Boots Riley’s Sorry to Bother You, Carlos López Estrada’s Blindspotting, Reinaldo Marcus Green’s Monsters and Men, and Barry Jenkins’s masterful Baldwin adaptation If Beale Street Could Talk. Native Son comes out on the heels of those films, continuing the conversations around blackness and performative masculinity.

With Parks and master cinematographer Matthew Libatique (Black Swan, A Star Is Born), Johnson crafts a contemporary vision of Native Son. In this modern story, Bigger (Ashton Sanders) is a Black punk with green hair, rings, a leather jacket, and a thirst for knowledge. In the early moments of the film, we see a copy of Ralph Ellison’s Invisible Man. This is a Bigger who likes hard rock and classical music, a Bigger who strives to stand out and rise above what he believes that the world intends for him. His girlfriend, Bessie, (Kiki Layne) sports a septum piercing and openly admires Bigger for his ambition and individuality. Jenkins alums from Moonlight and If Beale Street Could Talk, respectively, Sanders and Layne also went to the same college — Chicago’s DePaul University — and recently worked together on the sci-fi film Captive State. As Bigger and Bessie, their chemistry is palpable.

Matthew Libatique/Courtesy of HBO

Sanders and KiKi Layne as tragic lovers Bigger and Bessie

Both Sanders and Layne felt their characters were fascinating portrayals of young Black people. “Bigger being an Afropunk is so appropriate right now,” remarked Sanders. He goes on to discuss how he felt “spiritually connected to the character,” even though he had to “remove pieces of himself” in order to “fully focus in on exactly who Bigger was.” And when discussing Bessie, Layne spoke of the beloved literary characters she’s gotten a chance to play in her young career: “I have always had a vision for my career,” she said, “telling stories that can really encourage young actresses like me and tell Black stories in a way that just hasn’t been done.”

“It’s been really beautiful to be a part of putting these works of literature to life because that gets people interested in the authors and their other writing,” she adds. Layne understands how inspirational her performances onscreen have the potential to be for dark-skinned women and girls: “Beale Street… seeing a love like that,” she goes on, “me being dark-skinned, natural hair, and it’s still all about this love and tenderness and vulnerability.”

And, as white actors in a very Black film, co-stars Margaret Qualley and Nick Robinson — who play well-meaning rich girl Mary and her working-class boyfriend Jan, respectively — hope Native Son will “invite a white audience to be somewhat introspective.” Neither actor read the book before filming — Johnson insisted that they cultivate their characters from a fresh perspective — but, perhaps as a result, Mary and Jan often come off as comical characters, echoing the awkward, well-meaning whiteness that was skewered in 2017’s Get Out. Still, they aren’t portrayed as the villains of the story. Instead of pointing the finger at any one person, Native Son chooses to implicate the times we live in and the societal structures that serve as a barrier to progress.

Overall, Native Son is an allegorical performance piece trying to invoke empathy and understanding, as well as spark discussion; the narrative is secondary to the ideas being expressed. Ultimately, the film hinges on Bigger’s relatability, which is more than apparent to Sanders. As a Black man in America, he says, he has “the same struggles, the same anxieties, the same fears.”

A video of actor Chris Evans asking members of US Congress to participate in his to-be-launched political website leaked to CNN, spoiling the breadth of his formerly secret project.

As reported by CNN, the video shows Evans meeting with congresspeople, including Senators Cory Booker and Amy Klobuchar, and encouraging them to answer questions about prescient political issues on camera.

In the video, Evans says he intends for the website, “A Starting Point,” to be a “civic engagement project” that allows people to better understand the Democratic and Republican arguments for current issues affecting the country. Participating congresspeople are given a list of questions and subsequently interviewed on-camera by Evans, who asks in the video that participants keep their individual answers “around a minute” in length and to provide links for further information on each issue.

A few hours after the video leaked, Evans confirmed on Twitter that the “cat’s outta the bag” on the project and thanked those who had already submitted video for “A Starting Point.”

As of now, there is no further information on how many members on Congress have worked with Evans or when the website is expected to launch.
