Red Sox have already won the World Series according to Google

Google is apparently rooting for the Red Sox.

It’s Game 3 of the World Series tonight, but the Boston Red Sox have already beat the Los Angeles Dodgers for the championship — that is, if you trust Google to give you the right answer.

Google Search today has been incorrectly displaying the Boston Red Sox as the winners of the 2018 World Series in a featured snippet, or the short answers you see at the top of Google search results in response to certain queries.

The Boston Red Sox are in fact currently leading the series 2-0 heading into the third game tonight. But even if the Red Sox were to win the upcoming game, the team would still be one game away from winning the championship. Shame on you, Google, for spreading lies about the championship!

It’s unclear how many different terms this incorrect answer is showing up for. Queries for terms such as “Red Sox championships” and “who won the World Series 2018” in the Google Search have been displaying the Boston Red Sox as this year’s winners.

We reached out to Google to see if they could explain the incorrect search results. We will update this story when we hear back.

The third game of the series is Friday at 5:09 p.m. PT — that is if you believe Google’s Major League Baseball game schedule.

The Cuban missile crisis in 1962 brought the United States and Soviet Union to the brink of nuclear war, but Europe became the key nuclear theatre, with missiles capable of mass destruction facing each other across the Iron Curtain for decades.

The INF treaty defused the situation, but both sides now accuse each other of breaking the agreement.

US President Donald Trump says Washington has had enough, and plans to pull out.

Anderson .Paak And Kendrick Lamar’s ‘Tints’ Video Exposes People’s Darkest Secrets

People aren’t always as they seem, and that’s never been more apparent than in Anderson .Paak and Kendrick Lamar‘s new video for “Tints.”

The stylish, Collin Tilley-directed vid begins with a poignant quote from Edgar Allan Poe: “Believe none of what you hear, and only half of what you see.” From there, the vid gives us five wild minutes contrasting people’s public and private personas. From the elderly white couple with a kidnapped man in their trunk, the doctor who frequents a strip club, and the mom who moonlights as a dominatrix, everyone’s secrets come to light. .Paak and Kendrick, for their part, change clothes, settings, and characters throughout the clip, which also features a cameo from Dr. Dre (and the Grim Reaper).

The cinematic video is currently streaming exclusively on Apple Music, but if you don’t have a subscription, you can see a preview below.

Along with releasing the “Tints” video on Friday (October 26), .Paak also revealed the tracklist for his fourth album, Oxnard, which arrives on November 16. The Dr. Dre-produced project includes previously released tracks “Bubblin” and “Til It’s Over,” and also boasts features from Snoop Dogg, J. Cole, Pusha T, Q-Tip, BJ the Chicago Kid, and more. Snapchat is bringing its camera to desktop with new Snap Camera app

Snapchat is, for the first time, bringing its camera outside of its mobile app.

The company just released a dedicated desktop app, called Snap Camera, which lets people use its signature augmented reality selfie lenses inside of other desktop apps. Snap is also partnering with Twitch, so streamers can use Snapchat lenses while they’re streaming.

Snap Camera, which is now available for Windows and Mac, lets you access Snapchat’s library of lenses, including those made by other users via Snapchat’s Lens Studio software.

After you’ve installed Snap Camera, you can select it as the camera output for other apps, like Skype or Google Hangouts, so you can use the lenses within those apps. Snap has also partnered with Twitch on a dedicated extension within Twitch so game streamers can use the AR effects while they stream. Streamers will also be able to offer lenses to fans who subscribe to their channels.

Eitan Pilpski, Snap’s VP of camera platform, says the company was motivated by the success of its Lens Studio product, which has led to more than 250,000 user-generated lenses since the end of last year.

“We saw there is a shift in the community where anyone who wants to be creative wants to build AR applications, but they don’t have the skills to build a standalone app,” Pilpski said. “What Snap Camera signals is that we at Snapchat wanted to make sure that we are leading the industry and leading the creative community in terms of providing them the ability to have a presence in AR.”

Snap Camera is also an opportunity for Snapchat, which is losing users in its mobile app, to expand its reach without relying on its app. Snap Camera doesn’t require a Snapchat account to use. And, by getting the app in front of Twitch streamers and other personalities, Snapchat’s augmented reality features will be able to reach a much larger audience than what’s possible within the confines of Snapchat.

It’s the latest in a series of updates the company has made to expand its content beyond its app over the last year. The company has also opened up publicly shared “Our Stories so media companies can publish them on their sites, and users can share Stories outside of the app as well.

Now, Snap is looking to bring another of its most important features — its popular augmented reality effects — to people who may not be regular users of the Snapchat app.

Sri Lanka president sacks prime minister, appoints Rajapaksa

Former Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa has been sworn in as prime minister after the country’s president sacked incumbent Ranil Wickremesinghe, in a surprise move that threatens political turmoil in the Indian Ocean nation.

The appointment was confirmed in a statement from President Maithripala Sirisena’s office on Friday, but Wickremesinghe later told local media that he remained the prime minister.

“I retain the confidence of the house. I am the prime minister and I have the majority,” Wickremesinghe said.

“According to the constitution, I’m the prime minister. That is not legal.”

The move ends a more than three-year-old coalition government that was formed on promises of economic reform and accountability for alleged atrocities committed during Rajapaksa’s 10-year rule at the close of Sri Lanka‘s bloody civil war.

Sirisena, who was health minister under Rajapaksa, joined forces with Wickremesinghe to defeat the former president in elections in January 2015.

He was elected as president largely thanks to the backing of Wickremesinghe’s United National Party (UNP).

At the time, Colombo was facing economic sanctions from Western countries over Rajapaksa’s human rights record.

Earlier on Friday, Sirisensa’s United People’s Freedom Alliance had said it would quit the ruling coalition.

‘Anti-democratic coup’

Relations between Sirisena and Wickremesinghe have soured since their parties suffered humiliating losses in February’s local council elections.

Earlier this year, Sirisena reneged on a pledge not to run for re-election, sparking tensions with Wickremesinghe who is believed to have his own presidential ambitions.

Sirisena is also believed to be behind a failed attempt to impeach Wickremesinghe in April.

The ruling coalition has been further strained in recent days by strong criticism from Sirisena and his allies that ministers from Wickremesinghe’s party did not act properly in investigating an alleged assassination plot to kill the president and former Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa, the new prime minister’s younger brother.

Mahinda Amaraweera, a presidential aide, told The Associated Press news agency that Rajapaksa has the majority needed in the 225-member parliament to run a stable government.

Al Jazeera’s Minelle Fernandez, reporting from Colombo, said Rajapaksa’s shock appointment has brought uncertainty to Sri Lanka.

“There was no inkling that this might happen. It was only after the swearing-in that we started seeing videos and pictures of the ceremony,” she said.

“We are all still wondering what this means.”

Mangala Samaraweera, the finance minister of the outgoing government, labelled Wickremesinghe’s ousting “an anti-democratic coup”.

Rajapaksa, who served as president from 2005 to 2015, put down the decades-old Tamil Tiger separatist struggle in May 2009 through a military assault that killed up to 40,000 ethnic Tamil civilians, according to rights groups.

His government was also accused of corruption and murdering political opponents.

Sirisena had pledged accountability for war atrocities, but has faced international criticism for being slow to deliver on justice.

International rights groups have called for the prosecution of both the military and the Tigers, who were notorious for suicide bombings and enlisting child soldiers.

Trump: ‘Who gets attacked more than me?’

President Donald Trump griped about the cable networks on Friday, saying he gets “attacked maybe more than anybody,” shortly after calling for national solidarity amid the scare over potential explosives sent to some of his most prominent critics.

“Come to think of it, who gets attacked more than me?” he asked the crowd of mostly young, conservative African-Americans at the 2018 Young Black Leadership Summit. “I get attacked maybe more than anybody. I can do the greatest thing for our country and on the networks, it will show bad,” he added, which prompted a “Fake news,” cry from the crowd, many of whom donned Trump’s signature “Make America Great Again” hat.

“I won’t use examples,” he said, adding that “today is a very special day,” in which federal authorities arrested a suspect for the package attacks.

In Trumpian fashion, he pivoted and looked out into the crowd and said, “I can just look at these beautiful, incredible and handsome faces.” And then cautioned that “today, you’re not allowed to use those terms.”

“It’s not politically correct,” he added, but said determinedly, “we have to bring that back into the world of being OK, right? Don’t you agree? We’re going to bring that back.”

“A lot of people are jealous of you. And jealousy is a very bad thing. It’s mean. It’s nasty.”

He promised to put Americans’ needs first, and then complained that people called his “America First” rhetoric “racist.”

“I said racist? Racist? Why is that racist?” he exclaimed. “Does everybody in this room agree? You’re living in America. America First.” The crowd responded with chanting: “U-S-A!”

Throughout the remainder of his remarks, Trump meandered from topic to topic praising Kanye West and commending his administration’s successes, including on health care, trade, the economy and immigration.

He lamented that the media’s coverage on the pipe bombs overshadowed his proposal earlier this week to lower Medicare drug prices and that it got “very little coverage.”

“It didn’t get the kind of coverage it should have” because “we’re competing” with the suspicious packages story, he said, but also mused that the coverage “can start to disappear rapidly,” since law enforcement arrested a suspect on Friday.

Trump digressed to immigration and proclaimed he would continue to block migrants from entering the country, referring to his latest action to deploy the military to the border. “Illegal immigration has been especially harmful to African-American communities,” he said. “We don’t have borders, we don’t have a country.”

He began to recite statistics on African-Americans, and accused Democrats of failing to address crime, education, poverty and prison reform, among other things. He then reminisced about his time on the campaign trail when he stoked controversy from a provocative question to the crowds back then.

“I asked black Americans to give me a chance” with your vote with, “What the hell do you have to lose?” The crowd cheered and many pumped their fists in the air.

Then the president declared that his administration has improved conditions for African-Americans significantly over the past two years, stating that the African-American unemployment level, the unemployment rate for women and the poverty rate is “the lowest level in history.” He then contended that it would be “awfully tough” for Democrats to beat him.

“While the Democrat Party is obsessed with resistance, we are focused on results,” he declared. “Where the Democrat Party has failed, Republicans have delivered.”

“No other president has done anything close to what we’ve done in the past two years,” he added, drawing more cheers from the crowd.

He praised the crowd, exclaiming their work as “historic.”

“We love you!” someone shouted, to which he responded, “I love you, too!” After his remarks, he took photos with attendees.

But halt, dear reader, because there is so much more you could be doing to maximize your home movie viewing, and we here at Mashable can no longer bear it.

So, movie fans, if you’re serious about this whole staying-in thing and catching up on the latest releases, let us offer you a few non-Netflix and chill options for streaming movies online (although yes, Netflix is in there too).

Has every movie, pretty much • If you have Prime, you’ll get lots of movies free

Busy and distracting interface

If you have Prime, don’t forget that a lot of movies come with it, too. Also, Amazon Prime has basically everything.

1. Amazon Prime

Amazon Prime lets you access almost every movie out there, and many are free with a membership.

Price:
$99/year or $12.99 monthly

A lot of people have

for the free delivery and other benefits, but many likely just forget they can use their subscription for movies and TV shows.

The selection is extensive, including critical darlings like the Oscar-winning

Moonlight

and Amazon Studios’ own

Manchester by the Sea

, as well as a massive library of foreign films.

And

they’re downloadable.

Cons: No streaming site seems to have fully figured out a viable browsing function. The minute you click “see more” you end up on Amazon proper and primed for the type of analysis paralysis that can strike while online shopping. Also, free and paid titles are mixed together so you may end up wanting to watch something you weren’t ready to pay for. That said, it’s often only $4, so you can do it.

Bad browsing platform – you have to search

While better known for its TV options, Hulu also has a lot of great movies, but you’ll have to know what to search for.

2. Hulu

Hulu is known for TV, but actually has a ton of great movies, too. You’ll just have to use search instead of its cluttered interface.

$7.99/month

For years,

Hulu

has amassed a formidable library of movies. If you’ve ever felt the Netflix movie selection doesn’t have what you’re looking for, it’s more than likely you’ll find it on Hulu.

Cons: Another miserable browsing platform – Hulu’s looks almost primitive. Like most sites, it works best if you search for exactly what you want.

It’s Netflix, so you know how to use it

They’ve been prioritizing original content, and might not have the movie you want

Netflix isn’t as much about movies as it used to be, but you can still find some in addition to their originals.

3. Netflix

Netflix owns the market for a reason, but lately has been prioritizing original content over other movies.

Price:
$7.99 – $13.99/month

By now, it seems like most people have some kind of access to Netflix, if not their own account. We basically think of Netflix as free even though we pay for it every month and would rather watch or download a random movie here than pay for a known one elsewhere.

Cons: The movie selection has plenty to offer, but a lot of filler to comb through and limited selection depending on what you’re looking for. Over the past couple years, Netflix has made clear that it’s

prioritizing original programming

– and crushing it.

Quality movie selection • Ability to scroll alphabetically and by genre

Smaller selection than, say, Amazon

If you prefer high-quality films and docs, HBO is the place to be.

4. HBO Go/HBO Now

HBO offers high-quality films and the best documentary selection, and the ability to browse alphabetically and by genre.

Though more limited in numbers,

has a high concentration of well-known and popular movies. It’s the only streaming platform ever to host the Harry Potter movies (including

Fantastic Beasts

) and one of your best bets for streaming nominated movies during awards season.

Cons: The smaller selection is what it is, but you can also scroll through it all alphabetically if you need to, which can’t be said for Amazon, Hulu, and Netflix.

Free • Sometimes has big movies because of the Sony connection

Crackle’s selection can be random, but maybe you’ll find a hidden gem, and besides, it’s free.

5. Crackle

Sure, lots of the movies available are totally random, but you can’t argue with free, can you?

If you want your free streaming to actually be free, don’t sleep on

is more than likely to have it. You just have to, you know, make that leap. And they’re not always that cheap.

If you’re more of an international viewer, YouTube could be the best pick.

YouTube works better on devices than on smart TVs, but you can often find hidden free gems, especially in the foreign film genre.

is like iTunes but with the benefit of immediate streaming, and a robust selection of foreign films (sometimes even for free).

Cons: It’s friendlier on desktop or mobile than with a smart TV.

Popcornflix is a great free place to find that old gem of a movie you had almost forgotten about.

Popcornflix is another great free service with a lot of filler to sift through, but lots of good movies, too.

is completely free and with a somewhat eclectic movie selection (with hidden gems if you have the patience).

Cons: There’s a lot of filler to sift through, and you have to browse by genre. Why is this a thing!

Try Vudu before you pay for a rental on one of the other services – you might get lucky (if you don’t mind ads).

9. Vudu

Vudu has movies for rental, but also a good selection of free movies with ads.

Free (with ads), with some films for rent

Like the Amazon platforms,

has movies available for rental or purchase as well as free streaming (look for the “movies on us”). The free ones stream with ads while the rest have pretty standard prices.

Cons: Literally how hard is it to alphabetize these libraries. Come on guys!

A must for cinephiles who love the classics

Don’t expect new releases • Not free, so you have to be really into film

This talked-about service is for classic film lovers and those who aspire to be classic film lovers.

10. Filmstruck

Filmstruck is getting great word-of-mouth for their quality selection – just don’t expect new releases.

Though not a household name,

is essential for cinephiles obsessed with the classics – or those hoping to get better acquainted with the history of film.
