The Miami Heat impressed in a 122-99 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers on Tuesday at AmericanAirlines Arena, but it was to no avail as far as their postseason chances.

According to Tim Reynolds of the Associated Press, Dwyane Wade and the Heat were officially eliminated from the playoff picture when the Detroit Pistons defeated the Memphis Grizzlies 100-93.

The lack of a playoff appearance would have done little to temper the mood in Miami during Wade’s final home game.

The future Hall of Famer scored 30 points in front of the home fans, received a tribute video from the team and was greeted with a message from Barack Obama:

It is no wonder Wade was treated like royalty in his final home game. He is a Miami icon and has been the face of the franchise since it selected him with the No. 5 overall pick in the 2003 NBA draft. He won three championships and the 2006 NBA Finals MVP during his tenure.

He was also recognized as an eight-time All-NBA selection, 13-time All-Star and three-time All-Defensive selection during his career, underscoring his ability to impact the game in a number of ways beyond just scoring even though he led the league in points per game in 2008-09.

Despite the incredible career, Wade will finish his run with Wednesday’s game at the Brooklyn Nets and, like his former teammate and good friend LeBron James, have to watch the postseason from home.
